go where?
okie there’s this site i absolutely LOVE – gothere.sg
its one of those sites where you can get directions to just about anywhere in singapore. my dad told me about it sometime last year, and i’ve been using it pretty much everytime i have to drive somewhere myself or when i have to go to a place i seldom go.
i was just using it to find out the best way to get to work by public transport (and i found one.. a direct bus from (practically) my doorstep to where i’ll be working. better yet, from there i found out that there’s an express service too.. so yay!). anyway, it never fails to impress me.. all you have to do is type in where you’re going from and where you’re going to. and it doesn’t even have to be exact addresses. it can be a building or road and it almost always gets me to where i want to go. (see exhibit a)

exhibit a: chinatown to ocean towers@raffles place
i just typed in “chinatown” and “ocean towers”.. :D and it gives you four options with regard to mode of transport, which essentially means that it covers everyone! well everyone except those buggers who want to walk, but seriously who’s crazy enough to walk such distances in singapore?!

and look.. when you click on a busstop, it actually gives you the buses it services! and it also has erp gantries, their operation times and rates.. wahh..
okie i think i’m getting abit too excited about this right now. but i’m really very impressed by the site. i mean its only sort of failed me once when i was trying to get directions to the british club. but it got me near enough (by typing in the road name instead of the name of the club) to figure out how to get there myself. and let’s be honest, the british club is in such an obscure location and most people don’t need to go there anyway. also another thing is that the site welcomes contributions, so really all it needs is for someone to contribute and tada.. it’ll be there.
so next time you need help getting around singapore.. do check it out! :D
